Holiday traditions are in the details… Whether it be the specific way you decorate the Christmas tree, the precise angle the wreath is hung on the door, the Christmas card that gets mailed to friends and family has to be perfect. Undoubtedly, a large portion of the holiday season gets spent on… gifts. Finding gifts, buying gifts, and wrapping gifts.
Decades ago, most gift givers would cover packages with brown shipping paper or newspaper, even fabric. The brown shipping was usually what the post office would accept when those packages were shipped to that special someone. The latter, fabric, was also preferred, but could be rather pricey. Fast forward to 2023, the gift wrap industry in the United States is a nearly $3 billion market, in part, because of some quick thinking by a Kansas City, Missouri entrepreneur a century ago.
