"Every story that you do, you need to talk to people."
Julia Bergin has had a varied career as a journalist, working in contexts such as Japan and most recently in Mparntwe/Alice Springs as Crikey's Northern Territory correspondent. Reporting in new places has meant she has had to be creative in finding the right people for a story. She says this has also given her a broader understanding of how best to approach interviews, depending on the person.
"You don't have to have that formal divide between interviewer and interviewee."
