The Way Out | A Sobriety and Recovery Podcast
Education:Self-Improvement
In this rendition of The Way Out, we have a stellar interview with person in long term recovery, recovery coach, and Phoenix facilitator, Myles Sandoval. Author Johann Hari is credited with coining the phrase “The opposite of addiction isn’t sobriety. It’s connection.” This idea embodies the impetus behind The Phoenix, which is a non-profit organization with the sole purpose to build a sober active community that fuels resilience and harnesses the transformational power of connection so that together participants rise, recover, and live. Often one of the greatest fears folks have prior to, or upon entering recovery is that living sober will be devoid of joy and we won’t have fun in sobriety. Myles proves this unequivocally false as a participant in The Phoenix community, where she creates meaningful connections with others in recovery through shared interests and activities like Yoga, CrossFit, Meditation, Mindfulness and now as the facilitator of the Phoenix group Role for Recovery where Myles integrates two amazing things; Recovery and Dungeons and Dragons or D&D if you will, in an online group. Myles and I discuss the importance and power of connection and having fun in recovery, meditation, and of course D&D so listen up.
