On this episode of Comes A Time Oteil and Mike sit down with legendary singer Lester Chambers of the Chambers Brothers. Lester talks with the guys about how to instill habits of happiness instead of negativity within one’s self, the incredible story about how he escaped from a sharecropper’s farm with his family to move to Los Angeles and begin his music career, and why you need to always put yourself first in life. Lester also tells the guys about how the Chambers Brothers had to sneak into the studio at night to record "The Time Has Come" with no overdubs, how his brother gave Lightning Hopkins the idea for his signature slicked back hair look, and much more.
Lester Chambers is the lead singer of the 1960s soul rock group, The Chambers Brothers. The Chambers Brothers are a psychedelic soul band best known for their eleven-minute 1967 hit, "Time Has Come Today" (ring any bells?). He has released multiple albums as a solo artist, and was recently featured in Questlove’s Summer of Soul documentary. Lester keeps the spirit of the Chambers Brothers alive in The New Chambers Brothers alongside his son Dylan.
