It’s been almost 10 years since renowned Indigenous activist and environmental defender Berta Cáceres was murdered in Honduras in March 2016. Cáceres was targeted for opposing the construction of a hydroelectric dam that threatened a river the Indigenous Lenca people consider to be sacred. To date, eight people have been arrested for their role in her high-profile killing.
