It’s late June 2026, and police in Pattaya, Thailand, are retracing the movements of Australian man Simon Carman through hours of CCTV footage. At first, his day appears unremarkable. He eats breakfast, runs errands and returns to his accommodation before, just after 9pm, quietly leaving through a rear exit with a large suitcase. Security cameras capture Carman riding a rented scooter into the night, the suitcase still in tow, until the footage abruptly ends. When he later reappears on camera, the suitcase is gone. Hours later, police find the body of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla inside the abandoned suitcase. Carman is arrested at the airport and charged with her murder.
