Ian Kneebone (University of Technology - Sydney, Head of Discipline within the Clinical Psychology Discipline) has worked with those who experience depression and anxiety after stroke and other neurogenic diseases, including aphasia. Recently, his work has included collaboration with several SLP researchers in addressing psychosocial consequences and interventions for persons with aphasia.
In today's episode, Ian will explain the common mental health concerns among individuals with aphasia, as well as his past and current contributions to the field. He will speak about increasing participation in personally relevant and meaningful activities and how they can have positive effects on mood. Ian also discusses the role of SLPs in the stepped model of care.
