The Mindful Healers Podcast with Dr. Jessie Mahoney and Dr. Ni-Cheng Liang
Society & Culture:Relationships
Mindfulness and coaching gift you the opportunity to feel lighter. To not hold heavy thoughts tightly. They give you tools to finally let go.
In this episode, we explore all facets of light including how to see things in a new light and shed light on new things.
We hope that after listening you will put down, release, and let go of heaviness. You will feel lighter and more hopeful.
We hope you will leave looking for the light in everyone and everything - including yourself.
In the darkest time of the year, there is much light - from trees in their bright foliage of reds, yellows and oranges, candles, fires, fairy lights, the golden light at dusk, and even moonlight. At this time of year many cultures celebrate light.
Mindfulness helps us connect with our inner light by bringing in stillness. Much like a jar of swirling muddy water, when it is still, the light shines through the water as the dirt settles.
Society normalizes busy, and more, and doing. It takes practice and intention to bring in the pause.
We invite you to shine your personal light even if it feels hard. Allowing yourself to shine brings up feelings of guilt, blame, and shame for many. Many of us grew up being told to be humble.
When we don't shine our light, the world is less bright. Shining our light gives others permission to shine theirs. When we share success we offer hope and inspiration.
Coaching helps you see things in a different light. It helps you bring things into the light. Perhaps hidden truths, dreams, and desires.
Mindfulness and coaching gift you the opportunity to feel lighter. To not hold heavy thoughts tightly. They give you tools to finally let go.
Setting an intention to be a lighthouse or a beacon of light for others can be relationship saving. Especially if you have loved ones struggling with their mental health.
You can also set an intention to shift your focus and attention to seeing the light in others.
Mindfulness is a means by which we can access our own light and see the light in others.
Paying attention on purpose to the present moment harnesses our capacity to see and experience what’s real and true just as it is without judgment.
Using the spectacle analogy mindfulness allows us to see with clear glasses, with clear lenses. We use our inner light-our authentic self to do this. We use our own lens, our own perspectives to experience our world with mindfulness. Kind of like a squeegee wiping off a dirtied windshield we can let the light of others in through a lens that is free of debris and dirt.
Light is what allows us to see. It brings clarity. Especially when it is dark.
How might you like to see things in a new light?
Where might you want to shed light on things in your life?
What would you need to change to start to better see the light in everyone and everything including yourself?
