Three kids chase the ghost of their friend through the history of Halloween...with some sort of soul-collector guide?
It's the last of our No Flicks Given series of Halloween hidden gems. Last (but not least) we come to Peter's pick: 1993's 'The Halloween Tree', an animated spooky adventure written - and for some reason narrated by - Ray Bradbury.
It's the story of Mr. Moundshroud, a bald vampiric Gandalfian soul harvester hellbent on claiming the ghost of Pip, the absolute god damn fucking coolest kid to have ever been born (not even kidding, the movie makes this explicit). Along the way, he educates the rest of Pip's friends on the history of Halloween and why we have the costumes we have.
We hope you've enjoyed this Halloween spooktacular series of No Flicks Given episodes. We certainly have. See you all at Christmas!
Also Leonard Nimoy's in this. Yes Matt uses it as the Star Trek connection because of course he does.
