The Making & Mending Rituals Podcast
Leisure:Crafts
Hey everyone, I'm so happy it's September. I kind of can't believe it's going to be 2022 in less than fourth month, but I am grateful autumn is coming. I'm excited to get cozy with books, light candles and sleep more. Deep fucking breath! In this episode I am talking about my experience as a distance learner. Ten years ago I got my first degree from the Open University, the world's largest distance university, which was an amazing experience that I never regretted. I returned in October 2020 to study philosophy and really loved diving into a new subject this past school year.
Distance learning isn't for everyone, but for me it's been a chance to learn in my own way (at home where I am cozy and so much less overwhelmed!), to avoid debt and to explore subjects I am genuinely curious about. Through the pandemic it has also built my confidence and helped me feel connected to something beyond my four walls. I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts in case you're interested in distance learning too and because I wish more people knew about it as a valid option.
