Sue: Domestic Violence, Coercive Control and a Death Without Justice - Part 1

He brutalised her to the brink of death - and when she passed away in hospital, they decided not to charge him. There were no marches, no vigils, no headlines. Her name is Sue. She was only 48. Justice will never come for Sue and her family. But Sue is helping re-frame how Australia responds to violence against women and children. Sue's niece is Micaela Cronin - the National Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner. Micaela's job is to drive the coordinated, national approach to eliminating gender-based violence. Micaela talks about the impact of losing her aunt to violence, of watching the man who killed her never being held to account and how she's dedicated her career to making the world safe for women and girls. This episode discusses murder, domestic violence and coercive control, it is not safe for children.
