Before listening to today’s episode, it is important that you first reflect back to a time in which you or a family member were sick and required medical attention whether it be in the setting of a Hospital or Dr’s office. What were the expectations you had surrounding your care? Where would you draw the line as unacceptable behavior from a provider?
Unfortunately, healthcare providers experience all of these and must continue to care and provide for the individuals who express such views and degrade them.
Three guests were interviewed. A patient care technician, registered nurse, and physician all weighed in on their personal experiences and what they believe to be the causation to such treatment.
(3:14) Interview of Mr. Oswald (Patient Care Technician).
(4:30) Warning: Profanity is used when quoting a patient’s verbage when speaking to Oswald.
(9:07) Stories from Anonymous (Registered Nurse)
(11:09) Interview of Dr. Sendil Krishnan (Hospitalist)
(29:09) Nurses have been ranked the most trusted profession in 2017 on honesty and ethical standards. They have actually been #1 on the list of 22 professions for the past 16 years.
