Living Your Life with Lianne Laing
Society & Culture:Personal Journals
Never in a million years did I think I would be mentioning meditation and yoga in the same sentence as to things I practice in my life. I am beyond grateful that I didn't let stubborn and preconceived notions continue to fester and hold me back from things I would eventually learn to love.
There are a number of disciplines and ways to practice yoga. I have learned that there are diverse teachings and teachers, studios, mantras, environments and the list goes on. I am excited to introduce you to Tracy Billows, one of the co-founders of Yogatown.
When I say, "yoga saved her life", I really am not kidding. Her journey from waking up in a hospital bed after a suicide attempt to making a choice to life her life to the fullest- is truly a story that will inspire you.
You will get a mixture of everything in this podcast from Tracy's personal story, to the truth about yoga, the benefits of it's practice, the myths, misconceptions, stereotypes and tips one should know. There are some amazing take-aways as well, from basic breathing principles to self care, body movements, stretching and the ability to simply come back to the awareness of ones breath.
I can tell you from experience, I have seen every type of person, body type, weight, physical ability, age and the list goes on when I walk into the studio. Its really amazing.
