Rhinebeck Rotarians Joe Phelan, current president, and Michelle Andrick, fundraising chair, visit Radio Rotary to describe the club’s Shop ‘n Sip promotion for Small Business Saturday. A donation of $25 in advance of the event permits one to pick up a shopping bag loaded with coupons for discounts at local businesses. The “sip” portion refers to an agreement with local restaurants, wine shops, and beer stores to provide shoppers with a sip of their products. Money raised by this event will help fund the projects of the Rhinebeck Club, including a cooperative one with the Church of the Messiah to settle an Afghan refugee family in the area. Another project is the Community Service Committee, a group of Rhinebeck Rotarians who help senior citizen and others with household repairs and upgrades.
