Over the last few years, Renee Rosnes has become a regular performer on The Jazz Cruise, playing with her trio or with a quartet or even solo. She’s recorded nearly two dozen albums as a leader and also played in the bands of jazz greats such as Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Hutcherson, James Moody and Ron Carter. A founding member of the SFJAZZ Collective, more recently she’s been the music director for the all-women band Artemis. During the Jazz Cruise earlier this year Renee sat down for a fascinating one-on-one conversation with Sirius/XM host Eulis Cathey. In this very interesting discussion, Renee talked about growing up in western Canada, learning to play jazz, getting her first break with Joe Henderson and the unfolding of her own very impressive career. This episode is sponsored by the Birdland Jazz Club in New York City. The Jazz Cruise Conversations podcast is produced by Entertainment Cruise Productions, the worldwide leader in music-themed cruises.
