There was a win for Sheffield Wednesday, with Jamal Lowe scoring the winner against Leyton Orient from the spot.
Jimmy McNulty's reign at Stockport County started with victory over Plymouth Argyle, while Bromley beat Barnsley at Oakwell in their first ever League One match.
