Introduction of India.

इसका प्राचीन नाम आर्यावर्त था। राजा भरत के नाम पर इसका नाम भारतवर्ष पड़ा। जैन पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार हिंदू और बौद्ध ग्रंथों में भारत हेतु जंबूदीप शब्द का प्रयोग किया गया है। भारत के लिए प्रयुक्त इंडिया शब्द की उत्पत्ति ग्रीक भाषा के इंडो से हुए,सिंधु को इंडस तथा इस देश को इंडिया का कहा।
