The lies we tell our kids (and the one I can’t get comfy with)

Last year there were about 700 separate occasions where I told my daughter the plug in the bath was broken.

It wasn't, I was just racing through bedtime and needed the day to end.

And sometimes a bath takes too long.

That one lie, however, has now turned into a daily question: "Is the plug working today?"

And it got me thinking about all the things parents say just to get through the day... the “TV needs to recharge,” the ice cream truck “ran out," the shopping centre rides are “broken.”

All of the necessary fibs that help you get a tiny moment of peace.

But there’s one lie I still can’t get my head around and it’s the big one. Santa.

In this episode, I share some of the best (and darkest) parenting lies sent in by listeners and talk about why the Santa thing hits differently for me when it comes to trust, honesty and the stories we tell our kids over and over again.
