Dr. Deborah Hersh (Edith Cowan University, Associate Professor in Speech Pathology) is a fellow of Speech Pathology Australia and Deputy Chair of the Australian Aphasia Association. Deborah is interested in how people with aphasia experience rehabilitation and how SLPs can make their recovery journey more person-centered, inclusive, and successful.
In today's episode, Dr. Hersh speaks about Meeting in the Middle: Augmenting Person-Centeredness in Acute and Sub-Acute Post-Stroke Aphasia. She shares how therapeutic assessment differs from the traditional and expands upon the "therapy in transit" analogy as applied to acute and sub-acute aphasia care. Dr. Hersh also discusses expanding your collaborative skills through the SMARTER framework.
