In March 1857, seed warehouse clerk Pierre Emile L'Angelier was found dead of arsenic poisoning. His secret lover, 21-year-old Glaswegian socialite Madeleine Hamilton Smith, was accused of his murder. Just weeks before the murder Pierre threatened to expose their affair, and Madeleine was spotted buying large quantities of arsenic.
This week Taylor and Kat take a look at the show's namesake, Glasgow's Square Mile of Murder, and delve into a tale of forbidden Victorian love, oodles of arsenic, and Scotland's trial of the (19th) century.
