Title: Editor Insights: A Panel of Physical Education Journal Editors
This is audio from a webinar hosted by AERA SIG 93 Research on Learning and Instruction in Physical Education
Time: March 3rd 2023. Here is the list of editors on the panel.
· Journal of Teaching in Physical Education- Heather Erwin
· Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy- David Kirk
· Quest and Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly- Justin Haegele
· European Physical Education Review- Ken Green
· International Journal of Kinesiology in Higher Education- Jaimie McMullen
Here are the questions we posed to start:
· What are the most common mistakes authors make that lead to extensive revisions or a rejection?
· What constitutes a “Desk Reject” for you/your journal?
· Does your journal have a policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence (e.g., Chat GPT) and it’s use for writing, thought creation, analysis?
· What do you want to see in a “good” journal review?
· What is the process you go through when there are two conflicting reviews (one leans toward accept and another outright rejects)?
· What advice do you have for graduate students and early career researchers who are just beginning to publish articles?
