"The reason for ding it was two fold. One was to tell the story and hopefully inspire other people that they can do something, like what I'm doing, where they are living the way they really want to live... but also doing something to better the places they visit or better the places they live."
Sailing, surfing and saving pups. Sounds like a pretty epic way to live as a veterinarian, right? While Dr. Sheridan has created her ideal form of practice living in and working out of her 37ft. sail boat named Chuffed it's not without it's fair share of stressors and struggles which she shares with the world through her YouTube channel Vet Tails' Sailing Chuffed and on her blog vettails.com
In this week's episode I chat with Sheridan, aka Dr. Sheddy about the joys and challenges of working as a mobile veterinarian and sailor. We discuss what it looks like to operate a non-for profit to provide free medical care in a location where she doesn't look or sound like the locals in the communities she works with. I was inspired by Dr. Sheddy in how she spoke about the importance of developing trust and relationships with the local veterinary services in the communities. Her goal isn't to be the hero in these situations but to figure out how she can best empower and equip the individuals in the communities to care for themselves and their animals.
