THIS WAS A POWERFUL EPISODE. Two weeks ago I had a video call with Alex Costa, where we discussed mental health, his drive to never give up, dealing with grief and his work ethic. THIS WAS A POWERFUL EPISODE. Two weeks ago I had a video call with Alex Costa, where we discussed mental health, his drive to never give up, dealing with grief and his work ethic.

It's funny, I was first connected to Alex through Antonio Centeno (of Real Men Real Style) who let me know Alex was in London. We were trying to arrange to meet up, then randomly bumped into each other at the YouTube space in London. We discussed my switch to mental health, and Alex shared a personal story about his auntie...

Alex also then shared the idea for this series, which is why it was. a real honour to have him on as a guest!

We spoke about:

- When he started YouTube and why.

- His decision to move from gaming videos in Portuguese to men's lifestyle videos in English.

- The times he felt like giving up, when results weren't coming.

- His own personal experience with suicide, losing his Auntie and how that shaped his life.

- His thoughts on mental health, and the importance of talking.

- As an influencer, how much does he work?

- Future plans for Alex and his channel.

Even though we were both stuck in lockdown, and it would've been greater to do it in person, it was awesome to hear Alex talk so openly about issues he's faced. His advice around mental health I also try to reinforce to others on a daily basis, however tough things are right now... never give up.

The main purpose behind this series is to show influencers in a light we might not see them from what they share on social media. Social media is very much a highlight reel, and we often forget these are humans behind these profiles.
