Swiss developmental psychologist Jean Piaget (1896- 1980) is credited with being the first researcher to theorize that young children process information in a completely different manner from adults. Through his observations and analyses of test-taking in young children, Piaget began to theorize that they were processing information in a unique manner, and this curiosity led to his research proposal of stages of cognitive development in young children. One of his big concerns at the global level was what he deemed the “American Question: Why did Americans find themselves compelled to rush the developmental process in young children?
