Last week's conversation with Denny Thompson left me pondering one unforgettable sentence: "Nothing really matters except getting Home to God." Despite the loss of his eyesight, and arm, and a leg, his mind was free to experience joy and peace.
Then an old recording unexpectedly resurfaced, taking me back to a war movie eleven years ago. This memorable night taught me the same lesson as Denny.
Add to that a Vietnam veteran whose astonishing peace while under fire still leaves me shaking my head.
