My review of The Northman, which is really more of a critique of Robert Eggers' filmography more broadly. Style over substance. The cinematic equivalent of a 2 hour eerie ambient soundscape. I use the word "eudaimonia" perhaps erroneously to refer to the sense of emotional fulfillment or drama a good movie is supposed to give you - perhaps the word I was looking for was pathos or catharsis. Films are simulations of life, after all - they're supposed to make you feel alive. I don't feel alive while watching Eggers' movies, just bored.
