Saving Lives Podcast: Critical Care w/eddyjoemd
Health & Fitness:Medicine
There are various means that we can use to determine fluid/volume responsiveness in our critically ill patients. These include PLR with SV changes, SVV, PPV, VTI, etc. End-expiratory occlusion testing can be performed on patients who are on mechanical ventilation. In this podcast episode, we discuss the use of end-expiratory occlusion (EEO) as a method to determine fluid and volume responsiveness in critically ill patients. We explore the physiology behind EEO and how it can be used as a non-invasive, bedside tool to guide fluid management in patients with varying degrees of fluid responsiveness. We review the current evidence supporting the use of EEO and its limitations, as well as potential future developments in this area. Tune in to learn more about this promising technique and how it can aid in optimizing fluid management in the critically ill.
