276. Our Lady of Lourdes

The Virgin Mary gave her name to a 14-year old girl near Lourdes, stating: "I am the Immaculate Conception." Lourdes is a town in southwestern France, in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. It’s known for the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de Lourdes, a major Catholic pilgrimage site. Each year, millions visit the Grotto of Massabielle (Grotto of the Apparitions) where, the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared 18 times (between 11 February and 16 July in 1858) to Saint Bernadette Soubirous. In the grotto or cave, pilgrims can drink or bathe in water flowing from a believed to be, miraculous spring. The annual Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes was established in 1890 for February 11 by Pope Leo XIII.
