As KCBS Radio Political Reporter Doug Sovern reported in the opening segment of this week's special five-part series, President Trump is exaggerating the presence of the notorious Salvadoran gang MS-13 in those caravans bringing migrants to the U.S. border. But in the cities and towns of El Salvador, the gang is a disruptive force, driving migrants to seek asylum in America.
Many people forget that the gang is actually a U.S. export, born in Southern California, as we hear in Part Two of Doug's series,"A Desperate Frontier: Death And Dreams in El Salvador."
