The idiom story Covering One’s Ears While Stealing a Bell teaches us an important lesson about self-deception. In the story, a thief wanted to steal a big bell, but it rang loudly. Instead of finding a better solution, he covered his own ears, believing that if he couldn’t hear the sound, no one else could either. Of course, that wasn’t true and he was quickly caught.
This story reminds us that pretending a problem doesn’t exist won’t make it go away. Being honest, thinking clearly, and facing situations bravely are far wiser choices.
So little ones, when you’re faced with something difficult, remember: covering your ears won’t make the problem disappear. Let’s learn to think carefully, ask for help when needed, and make honest decisions.
