Do you have an Elf on the Shelf in your home?  You might want to re-think that after hearing this episode.  

Most of us know elves to be Santa's helpers, jolly good-intentioned mini beings that make the toys for all the good children. But, Elf on the Shelf is a somewhat new tradition that started with a self-published book in 2005.

We dig into the old gods/deities/demi-gods of Norse Mythology in a brief history of mostly Scandinavian (Danish) beliefs that pre-dated Christianity and their beliefs surrounding elves.
