Alle bewaaksters ondertekenen maandelijks een document waarin ze beloven te zwijgen over wat er zich afspeelt in Auschwitz. Ook kampbewaakster Theodora houdt haar mond over de gruwelen in het vernietigingskamp. Zelfs als ze op verlof mag naar familie in Nederland.
Theodora’s kleinkinderen vertellen hoe haar zwijgen nog generaties doordreunt in de familie.
