Eren Bali is the Co-Founder & Chairman of Udemy (formerly CEO), an online learning and teaching marketplace with over 55,000 courses and 15 million students. He saw that the future of learning was democratized online, and then he pioneered that future.
In our constantly-changing world, you cannot expect to go to college, learn everything that you need to know, and then be done with learning for the rest of your life. “You have to make learning a continuous part of your life.”
The most important skill for succeeding in today’s world is learning how to learn by yourself; the ability to identify a personal gap in knowledge, find instruction, and implement what you learn.
Plus, with resources like Udemy, education is more accessible than ever before – potential entrepreneurs and curious learners can access world-class education for cheap, and sometimes even free, and find valuable mentors in, say, podcasts.
Now Eren is looking to pioneer the future of healthcare: He founded a new company, Carbon Health, which aims to create the world’s largest connected healthcare network.
Carbon Health is an app that integrates with pharmacies, labs, insurance providers and specialists to allow you to access your treatment plans, manage prescriptions, see lab results, schedule appointments, and much more – all through this one app.
Carbon is currently available in the Bay Area, and they hope to expand throughout the U.S. to become the “world’s largest hospital,” in the same way that Udemy is the “world’s largest school.”
