Florida Man Ditched Daughter to Drink at Beach Resort: Cops

Employees at a bar in Key Largo, Florida called the sheriff's office for help in May 2026 for a man they said was drinking while his young daughter was playing in the water. Monroe County Sheriff's body-worn cameras recorded Luis Del Ra Ortiz's encounter with deputies. The video shows Ortiz cursing at deputies as witnesses described what they said happened at the bar. Ortiz faces a number of charges and has pleaded not guilty. Law&Crime's Angenette Levy goes through the video in this episode of Crime Fix — a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.
