Counterparty, a peer-to-peer finance protocol built on Bitcoin’s blockchain was developed in 2014. One of the most well-known “Bitcoin 2.0” (and later known as non-fungible token) platforms, Counterparty then added support for the Ethereum Virtual Machine, allowing all Ethereum decentralized applications to run on top of the protocol. Fast forward six years and now creators can tokenize and trade their work, these NFT’s have exploded in popularity, and are now starting to collide with the world of gaming.
