The Intentional Parents Podcast
Religion & Spirituality:Christianity
Welcome to our living room! Today is our first Intentional video podcast! We hope now more than ever you feel like you are sitting in our living room conversing with us and that you leave with hope and encouragement to keep stepping into the person God sees you becoming.
Today, we sit down to talk about mentorship and our influence in our families and out in the world. We discuss why mentorship is important, what makes a great mentor, and how we can become great mentors ourselves. We discuss the pressures we face in our culture today to be an influence, how we can become a better mentor with age, and something we call accidental influencing. We cover six ways to become an intentional mentor and five reflection questions to help you process where to begin. Enjoy!
6 ways to become intentional mentors (applies to accidental mentoring):
1) Slow down
2) See people
3) Say encouraging things
4) No shame
5) Be Safe
6) Make it Simple
5 Reflection questions:
1) Think back on your life -who are the people who inspired and influenced you to press in and follow Jesus in a deeper way?
2) Who needs to be seen by you?
3) What do you see in them?
4) What regrets can you pass on so that someone else can learn from your mistakes, what do you wish you would have done differently?
5) What are the top 3 spiritual practices that have opened your whole self to come near to God and where has He transformed you most radically?
Scriptures mentioned:
2 Timothy 2v2
