Stewardship as an American Christian
Means we protect the house God has placed us into.
Protecting what we have is the best way to “Love Our Neighbor”.
Crayon Theology:
Using Theology as an excuse to not be responsibility/stewardship.
Pseudo Dichotomy; Religion or Politics.
Real Hope Vs Crayon Theology
Work Vs Worry
Individual Responsibility IS Freedom
Imagine a house.
• Individual freedom has been given to all.
• Laws were established to govern morals. 10 commandments.
• Laws were established so the government so there would be no state religion.
• No laws were established to determine your level of success and flourishing.
Hold the house up, even if they are trying to kick the walls in.
If you vote for a platform that celebrates the murder of infants, you are hating your neighbor.
If you vote for a platform that promotes the destruction of the family, you are hating your neighbor.
1. Concerning politics, know the obvious.
There are two platforms with a specific agenda, regardless of the presidential nominee.
Love Your Neighbor, even if they are your enemy.
A real application of loving your neighbor.
[Mar 12:30 ESV] And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
[Mar 12:31 ESV] The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
Tolerating sin/evil is hating your neighbor.
The command of Stewardship from the beginning.
[Gen 2:15 ESV] The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
The Command of Stewardship of and for the Church.
[1Pe 4:10 ESV] As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:
[1Pe 4:11 ESV] whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies--in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
The Command of Stewardship in your Vocation: Job.
[Col 3:22 ESV] Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
[Col 3:23 ESV] Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
[Col 3:24 ESV] knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
