During our time together this morning we learned of the story of the Four Chaplains and their act of selfless sacrifice as the USS Dorchester sank. Torpedoed by a German U-boat during WW2 the four chaplains gave their life jackets to those who did not have one on: Their act of sacrifice and love for their fellow man was not an empty gesture.
But even greater is the sacrifice of Jesus for mankind. Paying a debt he did not owe for those who owed a debt they couldn't pay. His sacrifice is the ultimate example of love.
Have you received that which was given for you? Do you know Christ as Savior? There is time, do not delay. Each of us may very well be own our own Dorchester!
