Film maker George Dondero had the audacity to not only shoot an independent film in Sonoma, but he dared question the orthodoxy that it's "always a lovely day in Sonoma." His new movie, "War of the Wills" was filmed in Sonoma, Petaluma and Windsor and centers on the struggle between a father and a son battling over an inheritance of money and house. The catch? They have to live in the same house for a month and not leave. And they have strong feelings of dislike towards each other.
Sonoma County actors take a star turn in this dark comedy that examines generational cycles and patterns and if it's possible to break these cycles.
George then details that my large, clumsy, dwarf-like hands weren't pretty enough to be featured in a commercial about how to save water. And then admits that his partner, Bethany Browning, is a really good writer with a really twisted mind, as evidenced by her latest book Sasquatch, Baby!
As always he also helps answer YOUR Sonoma Valley questions during "We Get Questions." This week: a couple from Sweden wants to know where you can get grape juice - not wine - at a Sonoma Valley winery in June (grapes don't mature on the vines until September usually,) if Sonoma Valley is a good place to shoot movies and are we more known for our red wines or our white wines?
It's all this on the Sonoma Spiel, the most interesting podcast in Sonoma Valley.
