Kathryn Bigelow earned herself a spot in the history books with the release of her eighth feature, the war/thriller, the Hurt Locker (2008), earning herself two Academy Awards (the film won six overall), and becoming the first female director to win the Oscar for Best Director. The Hurt Locker is the second of three Bigelow films that Cinema D’Amore will be discussing this month.
