In this episode Will speaks to historian, journalist and author of the new book Reaganland: America's Right Turn 1976 - 1980, Rick Perlstein. They discuss what prompted Rick to write the book, Ronald Reagan's character and how that helped him get elected, the Conservative movement in the US during this period, whether Senator Kennedy may have been able to beat Reagan if he had won the 1980 Democratic Primary and if some conservatives' prejudice towards trans people can be connected to prejudices towards gay people and black people in the 1960s and 70s.
