In this very special episode, Chellie is joined by World War II hero, Dr. Eugene Richardson, an original member of the elite Tuskegee Airmen. “Tuskegee Airmen” refers to all who were involved in the so-called “Tuskegee Experience,” the Army Air Corps program to train African-Americans to fly and maintain combat aircraft, including pilots, navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors, and other personnel. Their success and achievements led to full integration of the U.S. military in 1948, and paved the way for African Americans to serve as pilots in the U.S. Air Force.
