As Martin Luther King once said, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." The universality of this quote is amplified in these pandemic times--particularly in the prison system, where prisoners lack the protections and social distancing capabilities to stay safe.
On May 9, 2020 Caravans of demonstrators will call on San Quentin Prison officials to do more to protect the prison populations and send those who are soon due to be released as well as those who are sick, elderly or immuno-compromised home. They say failure to do so amounts to a sentence to death. Richard Tan, an attorney with the Labor Action Committee, tells us what's at stake.
