Oklahoma may not be the first place that comes to mind when talking about Hollywood productions, but more recently, there's been a change in the Okie air with the most recent run of Hollywood productions including Hellraiser Judgement, the most recent rendition of Children of the Corn, and now a high school drama titled Wicked Love. Wicked Love isn't just a high school drama, but is also serves as an adaptation of one of Shakespeare's most famous tragedies, MacBeth.
The film is set and shot in Oklahoma and takes place from perspective of Lady MacBeth's analogue in the story Missy as she's swept off her feet by one of the town's star football players, Mac. It ditches the Shakespearian dialog in favor of a more Oklahoman high schooler vernacular in a the similar vein as 10 Things I Hate About You's adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew.
Dustin and Caleb had the opportunity to sit down with the film's writer/director Conor Allyn and Director of Photography Adrian Peng Correia to learn more about the project, the benefits of filming in Oklahoma, and what it takes to get a crack at pursuing a career as a filmmaker.
