The end of John 3 tells us that as Jesus’ ministry continued to grow, more and more people left John the Baptist to follow Jesus. John’s disciples expected him to be upset, but he responded, “he must increase but I must decrease.” What’s really amazing is that John described this as the cause of great joy – and his response teaches us a great deal about true joy.
