The death of Jesus on the cross told us that people are more important than things to God. While many people are looking for proof that there is a God, they forget that He is Love, meaning that He is intensely relational. Understanding God's relational nature is why His relational skills are never more on display than with His people Israel. Indeed, the Bible is full of Israel's failures but never once the neglect of God. 

In Luke 21, Jesus told His disciples that Israel would be disciplined, and they would be taken captive and dispersed around the world until one day Jerusalem would no longer be "trampled down by the Gentiles." (v28) Two thousand years later (1967) Israel took back the city. Israel becoming a nation again is the most incredible proof that God doesn't forget His promises or His people!
