Over the past two weeks, the two major political parties of the UK have held their annual conferences, giving voters a chance to see what they stand for, their policy ambitions and assess the character of their leaders.
But are party conferences as important as they used to be? Polling suggests that both Labour and the Conservatives have not moved in the polls, remaining as they were before conference season. The Tories appear to have gained more media coverage than Labour, but is that good or bad?
To find out the current state of the political landscape, what our major parties stand for and to get down into the nitty-gritty of the last few weeks, giving you a round-up of both conferences, Kieran Neild-Ali, IEA Communications and Marketing Assistant, was joined by IEA Chief Operating Officer Andy Mayer, who attended Labour conference for the IEA, and Duncan Simpson, Research Director at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, who attended the Conservative’s conference in Manchester.
