January 31, 2024 - Wednesday PM Bible Class
This quarter we are studying the prayer life of Jesus. Each week Jeremy Waddell or Darrell Dubree will be leading the lesson. This week Darrell Dubree leads the class.
In our latest enlightening episode, we gain an enriched understanding of Jesus Christ by meticulously dissecting his teachings, prayers, and interactions. Starting from a thorough exploration of John chapter 17, verses 1 through 19, we unravel Jesus' profound prayer for himself and his apostles, emphasizing unity, truth, and divine wisdom.
We subsequently examine various scenarios depicting Jesus' unique expressions taking into account his tones, emotions, and techniques. Examining episodes like his righteous anger at the temple, calm demeanor, and strategic crowd handling, we aim to offer a clear view of His complex character.
We further ponder over the repeated instances throughout the Scripture when Jesus declares that his 'time has not yet come'. These explorations provide insights into their ramifications on Jesus' life and his divine teachings.
Moving further with a focus on Jesus' nomadic nature throughout the Gospels, we bring forth his consistent movement between places to protect his teachings. We spotlight incidents such as his healing at the sheep gate pool in Jerusalem and his audacious claim of Godly equality, both of which stirred curiosity and aggression among the Jews.
The episode further touches upon Jesus's dedicated mission involving pivotal miracles like feeding 5,000 men and walking on the water of the Sea of Galilee. We explore the disciples' reactions, generating thought-provoking questions about how many people were aware of Jesus's Virgin birth story during his time and how such events likely bolstered faith for those directly involved.
Extending the discussion to Jesus's discourse with Jews in John chapter 2 when asked to affirm if he is Christ, we delve into his bold affirmation mirroring his divinity, subsequently intensifying the Jews' revulsion.
The episode concludes with a thoughtful introspection on the art of praying for each other, drawing inspiration from Jesus's life and teachings. Through this intriguing episode, listeners are encouraged to think beyond conventional beliefs and empathize with those who lived during Jesus' time.
