Believe it or not, the formation of the solar system is still one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in astronomy today, with lots of possible theories having been put forth. Given the recent discovery of thousands of planets outside our own solar system, it seems our little planetary neighborhood is a lot different than we first imagined!
