Living Your Sparked Second Half
Education:Self-Improvement
EP250: In this episode I share something new that I’ve begun that I’m super excited about… I’m learning to play the ukulele! It’s been quite the journey to get here but I’ve finally arrived and I’m committed, excited, and practicing daily.
I’ve always wanted to learn to play an instrument but I told myself I didn’t have any talent for it, that I was tone deaf and I have a terrible voice so somewhere along the way I just decided it was too hard because it didn’t come naturally to me. All really silly reasons to not take action on something you desire to do - and what I’ve come to realize are just more of those limiting beliefs!
Recognizing these limiting beliefs were preventing me from doing something that was really a deep desire, because it kept coming up in my head, was my first realization. Then I started to pay attention to the signs that began appearing… Signs that told me it’s time to JUST FRIGGIN’ DO IT!
For me, the signs appeared in the following ways:
The funny thing is that I GAVE AWAY my ukulele I had purchased back in the fall of 2018 to my grandson. I took 1 local lesson and then NEVER PRACTICED! The difference this time is that I feel inspired, I have accountability, and I found a system that feels fun and doable.
And I have a beautiful new ukulele that I love taking out of its case to play. (If you’re in the market for a ukulele, check out the Concert Ukulele I ordered on Amazon. It comes with a tuner!)
Listen in to this episode where I share not only my recent journey to finally just friggin’ start playing the ukulele but my attempt at age 13 to teach myself how to play the piano and how that turned out.
If you’d like to meet my teacher, listen to my interview with Matt Parkin, on Episode 240, which came out on July 12th, exactly ONE MONTH AGO!
